Supporting earthquake survivors in Morocco

When an earthquake strikes, Maghreb Secours takes action as soon as its response is organised. Tents, sanitation facilities, pallets and emergency medical support reach families at risk of being overlooked. Our nationwide network identifies essential needs, and our experience helps us respond effectively.

Our strength

An in-depth understanding of Morocco's communities

When earthquakes and natural disasters strike Morocco, we draw on two strengths: detailed local knowledge and a network of partner associations across the Kingdom, from the Rif to the Souss and from Al Haouz to the Sahara.

These local connections help us identify specific needs: tents, sanitation facilities, pallets, hygiene kits, drinking water and medicines. Many of the communities we reach receive little media attention despite facing real hardship.

Our commitment is to reach places others do not and stay for as long as needed, drawing on our knowledge of rural communities.

How we respond

Three stages. Lasting support.

01

The immediate emergency response

Mobilising volunteers, identifying isolated villages and distributing tents, water and emergency medical kits, in coordination with local authorities and partner associations.

02

The first weeks: stabilising daily life

Sanitation facilities, pallets for temporary rebuilding, food supplies and psychological support for children and families. Identifying patients who need to be transferred to Casablanca.

03

The months ahead: staying ready to help

Long-term support through school repairs, access to education, medical follow-up and help to restore farming livelihoods. Our commitment continues after the cameras leave.

Disasters strike without warning. Your support can make a difference.

Our response to the last earthquake helped us improve coordination and learn from an experience we hope never to face again. We remain ready to act.
